The operative tools of the project Archiviazioni are Archivica, the first archive and center of documentation for the contemporary art in the Southern Italy developed on the relation between art and territory and its peculiarities, and the Actions of artistic and interdisciplinary investigation on the territory,  which foresees different outcomes and modalities of development in relation with the themes and the specificities of the contexts involved.

 

Archivica is an active archive that includes printed and audiovisual materials about art and public sphere, national and international publications and reviews; digital and audiovisual documentation of works and projects by artists, curators and theoricians from local, national and international fields who work especially on public art; documentation that collects the current requests of the artistic and curatorial research in Italy and abroad: printed matters and audiovisual materials about artistic projects realized in the so called ‘Souths’ of the world.

The archive births as a reply to one of the prior demands of the territory: to offer to the artists, the curators, the cultural operators and anyone who is interested in it, the possibility to update itself and make research about the artistic, interdisciplinary and educational experiences made in Italy and abroad, that in long term places itself as point of reference for the knowldge of the artistic and cultural dimension of the contemporary South.

The archive works as space for the reflection, discussion and comparizon; as structural service that offer the tools for access to the informations; as educational, artistic and generative practise of new contents and operative modalities.

 

 

Archivica is an archive in progress which communicates and presents periodically the materials collected and the projects generated by them, in different places of Southern Italy.

Archivica is divided in three macrosections: Inner South, Inspections and Radar.

 

> Inner South>

Space devoted to the investigation and the debate on the artistic and curatorial practise in the Mezzogiorno and on the concept of contemporary South, which collects:

- the artistic and curatorial projects run in the contexts geographically and culturally placed “at South”;

- the documentation of the work of the young artists and curators who come from the territory, who live and work in the South of Italy;

- the documentation and materials of the most significant studying on the territory by the students of the Academies of Fine Arts, the artistic and related discplines of the Southern Universtities.

 

< Inspections >

Space devoted to the collection of artistic and interdisciplinary projects, national and international ones, developed on the binomial art and territory, in cultural, social, political, philosophical and environmental terms.

 

> Radar <

Space devoted to the monitorizing of the high educational steps for the professional growth of artists and curatos in Italy and abroad, and on the current demands of the contemporary artistic and curatorial research.

 

 

 

Shipment of the materials


The artists, curators, the artistic and cultural organizations and institutions that want to send to ‘archivica’ the printed, digital and audiovisual materials, in relation with the sections mentioned above, can do it in the following way:

The materials received are selected before being included in the archive and are offered to the public and private institutions to support the activities of education and research.

The filing of the materials of Archivica, in alphabetical order, is divided in the sections above mentioned.

The curators of the project are at disposal for specific examination and research concerning the project Archiviazioni and the materials included in Archivica.

The consultation of the materials collected in the archive is opened to the art workers and to the general audience on appointment / giusy@archiviazioni.org
